WONDERWORKS SAMPLE DRAWINGS
An Upside Down Attraction in Orlando, FL

WonderWorks Brochure

WONDERWORKS: This brochure (created by WonderWorks) gives a decent overall concept of the attraction.  I acted as Lead Designer for Imagination Gallery, in their contract to create about 70% of the interactive science exhibits in this facility. Below are just a very few samples of display concept renderings. The storyline is as follows: This was a secret scientific research center located on an island in the middle of the Bermuda Triangle. The scientists were attempting to harness the mysterious power of the Bermuda Triangle when it broke out of its containment field and transported the facility to where it now sits upside down across from the Orlando Convention Center, on International Drive.  Visiting scientists (tourists) are encouraged to examine the facility and render their analysis.

STYLE EXPLORATION

STYLE EXPLORATION

As with most design projects, there is always more than one right answer. This preliminary drawing just lays out a few possible directions to take in the design of the WonderWorks project. The "Organic" was our favorite but would have been the most expensive to fabricate. We ended up going with the "Construction" theme for ease of fabrication and because if looked more like something that scientist on an isolated island make create.

DIMENSIONAL DISTORTION

DIMENSIONAL DISTORTION
LAB

This first lab is where the trouble all started. The science stations you see are all created in the pursuit of control-ling natural and unnatural phenomena such as gravity, earthquakes, cyclones, natural disasters, and dimensional travel.

ANTIGRAVITY CHAMBER

ANTIGRAVITY CHAMBER

This lab experimented with the manip-ulation of gravity. Water flows upside down in here. A Coke can floats in midair. And in the case of loss of containment, one may break the glass for a pair of emergency gravity trousers!

3D BALANCE BEAM

3D BALANCE BEAM

This station is to test the effect of dimensional distortion on the scientists. The visiting scientists (tourists) are
invited to experiment for themselves on this unusual balance beam.

VOICE MORPH

VOICE MORPH

This station distorts sound waves by sending them through another "dimension" and back again.
